Hockey Strike Debuts on iTunes and Around the World
August 25, 2005
Today is an historic date. For the rest of your life, you will remember where you were on this date.
Yes, today marks the debut of the Hockey Strike Vodcast (more on what that means in a second)...
Hockey Strike is a multimedia syndicated webcom. A webcom is a sitcom that you can watch online. Every couple of weeks, there will be another 5 minute episode available.
On the in-between weeks, there will be short video segments, audio podcasts by the characters, and even episodes with cast and crew commentary.
Even better, it's completely interactive. We want your input! We will read your emails on the audio episodes, and you never know how these will affect the video segments...
Just send your questions and comments to hockeystrike@gmail.com
The Website is here: http://hockeystrikewebcom.blogspot.com/
You can subscribe in your news reader and/or podcasting application by pointing it to the subscription link at http://www.paulfrench.ca/hockeystrike/index.xml
If you use iTunes, then it’s even easier. Click here and click the subscribe button, and a new episode will be delivered as soon as it’s available.
So to answer your immediate questions:
What is Hockey Strike?
In a world where there has been no hockey for more than a year, two slacker geeks fight back!
Join Scott and Dave as they deal with zombies, aliens, their inability to communicate with women, and even DEATH.
Bill and Ted, Bob and Doug, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. Scott and Dave are the latest in a long line of comedy comedy duos, and the first to appear exclusively on a VODcast. Well, we’re not 100% sure about that, but they’re definitely the first duo to appear on a VODcast called Hockey Strike... um, that’s written by Garner Haines, directed by Paul French and guest starring Paul’s TV as The TV.
I'm SO not a hockey fan. Will I even like this show?
To borrow a phrase from one of our favourite shows (Sports Night for those who really want to know) Hockey Strike is about Hockey the same way that Charlie's Angels was about law enforcement. If you like smart (and some dumb) comedy filled with pop culture references, then you'll love this show!
What is VODcasting?
According to Wikipedia: VODcast is an emerging term used for the online delivery of video on demand content via RSS enclosures. The format is used by video weblogs (also known as Vlogs , vodding, vlogcasting, or vidcasting).
In human terms, it's a way of getting our show delivered to your computer for your video watching joy whenever we post a new episode.
Dude, didn't you hear that the strike is over?
Yeah sure, but Scott and Dave haven't realized it yet. Even when they do, it's likely that THEY will be on strike from hockey. Besides, M*A*S*H lasted longer than the Korean War, so dig in. This Strike is just getting started!
